In Ram Charitra Manas, Sri Ram explained to Narad ji when he meets in dense forest of south, about Gyani (who has spiritual wisdom) and Bhakt (devotee), as under: (अरण्यकांड, 42 वे दोहे के बाद, 4 से 5 चौपाईया मे, 35 दोहा, 35 वे दोहे के बाद, 1 से 4 चौपाईया मे)

  • The wise are like my grown up sons, while humble devotees are like my infant children.
  • A devotee depends on Me, while the former ( a wise man) depends on his own strength;
  • Both have to face enemies like lust and anger.
  • Prudent adore me and never take leave of devotion even after attaining wisdom.

Sri Ram explains to Kakabhusundi ji about best way reach him as under:

  • This world with all its varieties of life, both moving and motionless, is a creation of my maya (delusive potency). I love them all, because all are my creatures. But human beings are the dearest to me of all.
  • Of human beings, those who are well-versed in the Vedas; of these, again, those that follow the course of conduct prescribed in the Vedas; of these latter, those who are vairagi (वैरागी, dispassionate) are dear to me and of vairagis, wise (gyani) and of the wise too I love a man of realization (विज्ञानी, Spiritually enlightened) all the more; still more beloved to me, is my bhakt (devotee), who solely depends on me and has no other hope.
